Peaks and Veins: A Journey to 60,000 Feet for Vascular Health

Welcome to Peaks and Veins, my name is Liam, im a vascular surgery trainee and a keen outdoorsman. Now, I'm taking that passion to the great outdoors, combining my love for the mountains with a cause that’s close to my heart—raising awareness and funds for the Circulation Foundation. In the coming months, I’ll be running to the top of some of the most iconic mountains in England and Wales, covering over 60,000 feet in elevation—the equivalent length of the human circulatory system. Each step I take will not only challenge me physically but will represent the intricate pathways within our bodies that keep us alive and moving. By doing this, I hope to draw attention to the vital role vascular health plays in our lives, from preventing strokes and blood clots to managing conditions like peripheral artery disease. The funds we raise will go directly to the Circulation Foundation, supporting crucial research and outreach to improve vascular health for thousands of people. Follow along as I tackle these peaks, explore the parallels between mountains and medicine, and share tips on staying heart-healthy—whether you’re scaling a summit or simply trying to live a healthier life. Thank you for joining me on this journey—upward, always. Liam
